Blackbird 16 - Editor, David Stone (USA)

Another just-simply-exciting publication of Blackbird, edited by David Stone. It's another sumptuous, colour edition by Cyberwit.net ( www.cyberit.net ) (info@cyberwit.net). I mention the publisher as ALL the dealings I have had with Karunesh have been professional, engaging and encouraging - he has been a remarkable gift to artists such as David and myself.  And yes, I was fortunate enough to do the cover once more.

David has, time and time again laboured away at this publication, and no doubt (like many of us) has wanted to lay down his tools, but! Once the recipients receive their copy, none of us want him too. 'Nearly a quarter of a century' - that's a long labour of love.

Participants from USA, US, Mexico, Germany, Netherlands, Italy, Canada, Taiwan, Greece, South Africa and Lithuania make for a diverse assortment of submissions. In his poem from the Citadel series, David wrote with the mark of an authentic poets voice - one who will never surrender the power of poetry:

I was a young poet in Kingston
Mines;  fifty years after that
I am an old poet who wrote
1000’s of pages who has a
tiny audience and meagre
book sales.

Perhaps more of us associate with those sentiments than don't.
